Exuma Airport (GGT) is a public/civil customs port of entry into the Bahamas.

In 2021, work started on a new $65 Million airport adjacent to the existing airport. and is expected to make Exuma airport the hub airport for passengers and cargo in the southern Bahamas. As well as upgraded facilities, there will be a a new fire station and 60,000 sq foot terminal building along with parking for about 108 vehicles.

Location

Exuma Airport is located about 15 miles North West of George Town, the largest settlement in Exuma and is a 30 minute drive.

Lost or Left Luggage

If you’ve left an item at Exuma International Airport or your luggage hasn't arrived: Contact your airline first—most luggage issues are handled directly by the airline's ground handling staff. If the item was lost inside the terminal (not on a flight), contact: Airport Authority Office (during business hours): +1 (242) 345-0234 Security Booth at the airport: Report items left at checkpoints or public areas. Keep your baggage claim tags and a photo of your luggage if possible—it helps speed up recovery.

Getting To and From the Airport

Taxi service is available outside the arrivals area. Rates are fixed by zone; ask the driver to confirm the fare before departure. Hotel shuttles: Many resorts offer pre-arranged transfers—book in advance. Parking: On-site parking is available for short- and long-term use.

General Tips

  • Arrive early: At least 2 hours before an international flight.

  • No jet bridges: All passengers board via stairs on the tarmac, so pack light if possible.

  • Weather: Exuma has a tropical climate. Storms can impact flights, so monitor forecasts during hurricane season.

  • Customs & Immigration: Generally quick, but can be slow during peak hours or when multiple flights arrive at once.
